Bagi sebagian siswa maupun orangtua, masih lebih mementingkan nilai-nilai akademik seperti Matematika, Fisika, Kimia, Bahasa,&nbsp; atau yang lainnya dibandingkan pendidikan jasmani.&nbsp; <span><span style=\"background-color: white;\" title=\"It  is widely acknowledged that physical activity is essential to  children's growth and\">Tidak hanya orang tua ataupun murid, dari pihak sekolah&nbsp; sendiri masih menganggap pelajaran olahraga kurang penting sehingga kurang diperhatikan, hal tersebut karena kurangnya wawasan kepala sekolah sebagai leader kurang memahami pentingnya olahraga secara keseluruhan dan bagaimana menerapkannya didalam sekolah yang mereka pimpin. Allison,\u201cThe Effects of Regular Moderate to Vigorous  Physical Activity on Student Outcomes: A Review\u201d, Canadian Journal of  Public Health 86, no. 1, (January\/February 1995), p. 64.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cBetween 1981 and 1996, the number of obese children in Canada  between the ages of seven and 13 tripled.This is contributing to a  dramatic rise in illnesses such as type 2 diabetes,heart disease,  stroke,hypertension and some cancers. . . . many young people do not  have the opportunity to be physically active every day . . .\u201d\u2013 2004  Ontario Chief Medical Officer of Health Report: Healthy Weights, Healthy  Lives (Toronto:Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care,Ontario, 2004), p.  2.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cSchool-based healthy eating and physical activity programs  provide a great opportunity to enhance the future health and well-being  of children because they can reach almost all children and may (1)  enhance learning and provide social benefits, (2) enhance health during  critical periods of growth and maturation, (3) lower the risk for  chronic diseases in adulthood, and (4) help to establish healthy  behaviors at an early age that will lead to lifelong healthy habits.\u201d \u2013  Paul J.Veugelers and Angela L. Shephard,\u201cCurricular Physical Activity  and Academic Performance\u201d, Pediatric Exercise Science 9 (1997), p. 119.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cHealth and physical education are essential to the entire school curriculum. Studies show that students who participate in physical activity each day exhibit improved memory, concentration, and communication, problem-solving, and leadership abilities, which improve their learning in other subject areas. Such students also display more positive attitudes towards themselves, improved interpersonal behaviour, and a willingness to meet and deal with the challenges of daily life.\u201d (\u2013 The Ontario Curriculum, Grades 1\u20138: Health and Physical Education, 1998, p. 5).<\/li>\n<li>\u201cEncouraging kids to build physical activity into their daily routine helps to create a pattern that may stay with them for the rest of their lives.\u201d \u201cThe goal is to get the children moving more. As a teacher who is in daily contact with children you can do a lot to help.You can build physical activity thinking and behaviour into your classroom and help kids to become aware of the need for physical activity.\u201d (\u2013 Health Canada, Canada\u2019s Physical Activity Guide to Healthy Active Living:Teacher\u2019s Guide to Physical Activity for Children (6\u20139 Years of Age), 2002, pp. 1 and 2).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div style=\"color: white;
